Cycling Takeover #118

Cycling Takeover #118

I don't have a great case of the funnies today because a) it's Monday, duh 🤦🏼‍♀️ and b) my lovely boyfriend Ed got hit by a car last week (while riding his bicycle), breaking his femur. Not ideal and definitely not brill. Could have been worse, yes – life is precious. With each accident I am reminded that cycling is dangerous. With each accident I also become more determined that drivers understand the inherent responsibility they have to others. Don't drink and drive, don't read your friend's Facebook status update while driving and don't be ignorant or angry at others, to the point that it causes you to make stupid or careless decisions behind the wheel of a car. Most importantly, don't be angry at cyclists because you think that you have a greater right than they do. We are all valuable. I usually like to have a laugh and share some humour on Instagram but it just so happens that there is a direct correlation between cycling and the people that are most dear to me. This message is important for that reason. I post it for my loved ones, who I wish to return home safely from each ride. Bikes are a great tool to be used and enjoyed. Cycling is a great medicine for good health, happiness and will generally always fix a bad day. And in a country that is losing a battle with chronic diseases associated with over eating and inactivity, we shouldn't be deterring movement of any kind. Be healthy, happy and compassionate for a good life ☝🏻❤️ Joey out.
