A cyclist on a group ride through the village where he grew up stopped to help a cow give birth, remembering some animal birthing tricks he learned as a boy.
Jose Manuel Faraldo was out for a ride with club pals, passing through the village of Cela, population 12, in the municipality of Irixoa, in the north-western Spanish province of A Coruna, when they saw a group of villagers crowded around a cow in the road.
The animal had been trying to give birth for five hours and was getting exhausted, but the vet the farmer had called had not yet arrived.
