Warning, gruesome image of a mans head split open after being hit by a car
We always new IPWR would be brutal and set Indian Pacific Wheel Race apart as the most brutal race on the planet but we don’t count on dangerous drivers endangering cyclist and making a tough job even tougher.
Eoin was wearing a poc helmet which (looking at the images) saved his life. It absorbed some of the impact and split open as it is meant too but Eoin still suffered a massive wound to the back of his head as well as grazes to his cheek and nose. Eoin also suffered a broken rib.
Well done for getting so far Eoin and sorry to hear of you plight.. rest well and we’ll see you next year, Well done ben for looking after a mate.
A situation we have seen before, not so long ago when Durianrider was hit by a car in Adelaide and his confrontation with a driver on mount lofty”
Unfortunately after a car ran into the back of me yesterday I have had to call the race. It's an understatement to say I am disappointed but I am so thankful to walk(hobble) away from this. I'm pretty cut up with some broken ribs and a nasty head injury but will make a full recovery and be back to ride another day. I can't thank my friend and all round legend enough, @benrides who stopped his race to take me to hospital, everyone who has sent well wishes and all at @indianpacificwheelrace For the amazing work. It's been a hell of a few days. Wishing all the rest of the competitors best of luck and stay safe out there kids. Eoin.
