Ironman 70.3 Bariloche BIKE 🚲 The short of it: Hilly 🏔(4,600ft. of gain), windy🌬, and lots of burps 🥴 ••• Initially, I was worried about the temperature for the bike🥶 because I knew I'd be wet and in the shade at the beginning of the ride. After putting on a dry kit, I threw on a vest and gloves, along with my helmet before grabbing my bike. The T1 exit was straight up a hill so I made sure my bike was in a low gear before the race and chose to leave my shoes in my transition bag rather than on the bike. The course was GORGEOUS but it came with a price. The hills were pretty tough and at many times, I wished for a few more gears ⚙️ to keep me climbing steadily. The downhills were fun…but extremely scary when the wind would come out of nowhere (usually from the side) and nearly knock me over. Talk about a white knuckle ride. During my first lap, the bar tape on one of my outside bars came off, so i stopped by the Shimano tent and got it taped back on. In a flatter race, I would've said to hell with it but in this case, it was necessary. When the mechanic taped me up, he didn't realize that he also taped over my shifter on the outside bar. Not the end of the world but it's really nice to be able to shift when you're not down on the aero bars! About halfway through on the bike, my stomach started cramping like it never had before and I couldn't stop burping. It was so uncomfortable that eating bloks or gus just wasn't gunna happen. And of course, my bottom was so unhappy after several hours on the bike.
