In May 2014 he rode a Raleigh Chopper right up Mont Ventoux, one of the toughest mountain climbs in the Tour de France, overtaking 41 racing cyclists and raising over £5,000 for The FireFlies Tour and beating blood cancer.

In summer 2015 he try to raise as much money as possible for for the same cause by riding “The Hour” on an unmodified 1969 Mark 1 Raleigh Chopper.

This year, between 2pm and 3pm on Saturday 23 May, I set a new record for the distance ridden in one hour on an unmodified Mark 1 Raleigh Chopper at Palmer Park velodrome in Reading. I rode 31.87km (19.8 miles) in sixty minutes to help to beat blood cancer.

Chopper vs The Hour was reported by BBC Online, Cycling Weekly, Road.cc and other publications. It was also tweeted by James Cracknell, Team Wiggins, Eddy Merckx Cycles, Vernon Kay and Matt Lucas, among others.
