“””He came up behind, honked, came along side at an unsafe distance, and struck me with his side mirror. I braced my arm against his vehicle to avoid being knocked over. I chased him to the light. He leapt out of his truck in my direction and I pulled out my pepper spray. He threatened to arrest me for having the pepper spray even though it’s perfectly legal. He re-entered his vehicle. I punched his window (zero risk of damage to his property) because I didn’t want him to simply leave the scene. He got out again, reached into his rear pocket for something (gun? badge? cuffs? dildo? If you look at about 00:52 you can see something jiggling back there) and threatened to arrest me again. I asked for his badge number. He left the scene without identifying himself.
Motorists ride way too quickly on the streets of my neighborhood. Crashes happen and this is one example just down the block: https://photos.danconnor.com/uploads/…
Children play on these streets. They are not especially wide nor are they suited for the amount of traffic they receive. I often am forced to “race” through these streets unnaturally fast because motorists are right on my ass.
The neighborhood’s 94th precinct does not give a shit about cyclists or traffic safety. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6xbI… Indeed, they often park their squad cars in the crosswalks and bicycle lanes. The police are corrupt people with guns who hold views similar to those of the man in this video. They are not in our neighborhoods to help us.”””
